BEHIND-THE-SCENES

A behind-the-scenes video of Haper's Bazar cover shoot featuring pop star Gwen Stefani. Although, Harper's Bazar is a fashion magazine and not a music magazine, I still plan on creating a cover shoot inspired by the costumes and set of this shoot.

The following is behind-the-scenes video from Rolling Stone magazine. The cover star is Katy Perry who is a current, succesful pop star.

MOODBOARD

I have assembled a moodbaord showing the set  and mis-en-scene ideas which I have used as inspiration for my photo shoot. I am particular inspired by the vintage Audrey Hepburn looks e.g cat eye sunglasses, pearls and black dresses. I really like the monochrome theme; the bright lights and white background accentuated by dog tooth print accessories. I plan to have a plain background so the main focus is on the artist. Also, I want to produce classic yet modern images for my magazine.

Below, I have assembled a moodbaord of outfits which have inspired my costume ideas. The model in my moodboard is Gwen Stefani who is a world famous singer and fashion designer. Gwen Stefani reminds me of Audrey Hepburn but with a modern touch. She takes  feminine glamour such as big pink gowns and reworks them with edgy messy buns and black leather gloves. Although, I plan on sticking to my black and white theme as shown above, a hint of colour will be used to represent the artist's music and personality and also create meaning for the readers with connotations that come with those colours.

The moodboard below shows how lighting has been used in the images.

POP VIDEOS

The following videos are from the world's most famous and most popular pop stars. Pop is a vast genre and has many sub-genre's that fall into it. The exemplary videos below are pop videos, however they have a sub-genre too for example Michael Jackson is the King of Pop but he also falls into RnB, soul, jazz, dance. The first video is Britney Spears' first single, Baby One More Time. Britney Spears is the first big pop star of the millennium.

Justin Bieber is the most recent pop star. His video Baby is the most viewed video in Youtube history.

Madonna is an 80's pop icon. She is still relevant today and has inspired many new popstar's such as Britney Spears and Lady Gaga. The video below shows Madonna and two other pop artists performing her debut single Like A Virgin at the 2003 MTV VMA'S.

Michael Jackson is known all over the world as the King of Pop. He has won many awards for his contribution to pop music and is a legendary icon in the music industry and pop culture.Michael Jackson's album Thriller is the best-selling album of all time making him and the Guinness World Book of Records have recognised him as the most successful entertainer of all time.

The next video is from Disney star Bridgit Mendler. In the last decade, Disney has produced many pop stars which are extremely successful in the children's market in the USA, artists such as Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez all got their start at Disney. POP POP POP

My magazine will be in the genre of pop. I have assembled a board of current pop artists with the exception of Michael Jackson aka the King of Pop.

I have researched current existing pop magazines to get ideas and inspiration.
